Departed unit:   Dec. 17, 1970  -  Capt.

Duties in unit:  Lift Pilot, Maintenance Officer, Tiger Tail 4, Avionics officer, Commo officer.

Other Assignments:  ROTC at MTSU, in Murfreesboro , Tennessee .  
Sept 1968, completed Transportation OBC, Ft. Eustis , VA.  
Sept 1969, completed Flight school in ORWAC 69-26, Ft Walters & Ft. Rucker.  Dec 1969, completed AMOC at Ft Eustis.  
Dec 1970, after Vietnam , Adjutant of the 29th Trans Bn, Ft Campbell, Ky.   It was the worst job of my Army Career.  In 1971, Helicopter Maint Detachment, 173 Abn Bde. which became the 3rd Brigade of the 101st Airborne, when it was reactivated in 1972.

Training:  Transportation OBC, Ft Eustis , VA

DOS Army:   I first left the Army in June 1972 as a Captain. Ten years later at age 40, I joined the Tennessee Army National Guard as a CW2. I flew Hueys with the 278th ACR, transitioning to Cobras until I retired as a CW4 at age 60 in 2001.

Current Residence:   Pleasant View,  TN. and Daytona , FL.

Occupation:   Adult Ed. Supervisor, Williamson County Board of Education, Franklin, TN. Recently retired after 30 years service.

Family:   My wife Lynn, is the Director of Schools, Cheatham County Schools, Ashland City , TN.   My children are Lori (36), Steven (33), Jessica (28) and Chris (26).   All college grads, two have Master's Degrees and Chris is currently working on his.  We have 2 cats, Rick and Shuie.

Hobbies:   I buy and sell Porsches and also race a 944 with the Sports Car Club of America.  I ski Colorado , Utah , and Indiana and scuba dive in Florida, and the Caribbean .

Remarks:   When I joined the 68th I first flew with a lift platoon under Capt Williamson.  I then served in the Maint. Platoon under Capt Uzzel; other Asst Maint officers, were Capt Gore, Mr. Daly, and another CWO, who's name escapes me.  After Capts Uzzel and Gore left, I became Maint Officer and Platoon Leader.  About the time that I left in Dec. 1970, the 68th was turned over to the South Vietnam Air Force. I may have been the last Maintenance Officer of the 68th.
